Paid $300 to get in the door, minimum charge to pop the hood and take a look. No issues here, everyone has to pay the bills. But fair warning. Next they test drove my car trying to reproduce the issue (loss of turbo boost). No issues here, but they were not successful. If they had stopped here and called me, I would have completely understood. Lame that they had no way of figuring it out anyway (pressure test, smoke test) but so be it. My issue is their recommendation. They indicated that the surge/diverter was only available as part of the entire turbo assembly (not true), and tried to charge me over $2500 to replace the entire assembly. All their paperwork indicated that the turbo was working as expected, and this was true when I picked it up. No check engine light, no issue, so why throw out the baby with the bathwater? Again, if they had called and talked to me about what was going on, and admitted that they couldn't find the problem nor a reasonable solution, I would have been understanding. But they did not. They tried to pass on an unreasonable repair, bundled with coolant flush, brake flush, and other repairs marked as unneccesary by the owner's maintenance manual. For that reason, I can't recommend giving them your business. There are other euro repair shops in the area.
Hello Stephen, I have looked into these issues with your vehicle and spoken to the service advisor who was working with you. We strive to make every client's experience the best it can be and pride ourselves on our communication process. Our shop management software also keeps a detailed communication log for documentation and I have looked at it as well. I can see that we performed our diagnostic inspection process and did all of the available testing we could, but could not replicate the symptoms, despite several test drives. We did, in fact, stop at that point and contact you to let you know. We also let you know that a likely cause *could* be an intermittent failure with the valve, but could not verify it and did not recommend replacing it at this time because we could not guarantee a successful repair. The valve is only available from the manufacturer with the turbo assy. and that was verified by your vehicle's VIN information. We have detailed documentation that we kept you updated through the process and communicated all of this information along the way, with dates and times. I am disappointed that you feel like you did not get the service you were expecting and we are always willing to take the time and explain everything in detail, so our clients have all of the facts they need to make informed decisions for themselves. Had any concerns been voiced at the time, we could have had this conversation in person and straightened out any confusion. With this being your first visit with us and you letting us know that you do the majority of your own maintenance on your vehicle, we only get once chance to make a first impression and it sounds like we missed our opportunity to demonstrate the value of our service. We will continue to work to improve our internal processes and communications. Thank you for your feedback.
