There are plenty of good and honest mechanics. Swedish Automotive is not one of them. They are overpriced and will lie to you. These people don’t have your best interests in mind. They are here to make as much money as possible, and they will tell you lies to do it. My Experience: My car had an unexpected breakdown, and I thought this would be a fair and reasonable place to go because of the reviews. I was wrong They have excellent communication skills and respond very quickly. They charged $400 for an inspection and diagnostic. Okay fine. Their recommendation was to replace the broken thing…. Thanks After the review, they returned with about $2100 for the repair bill, which was a simple fix. I reviewed the charges; they were charging me $1200 for a $400 part and $500 for labor, plus diagnostics. Paying $2100 for a 10-minute fix doesn’t seem reasonable. I offered to source the part for them, bringing the cost down for me and allowing them to make some profit for themselves. They lied and told me they were unable to use customer-provided parts, even though the parts were sourced directly from the manufacturer. They told me this was because of Washington state warranty law, which doesn’t exist, and they weren’t able to provide it. I expressed my dissatisfaction with an overpriced repair, the lies, and the unwillingness to help. I called a tow truck to pick up my car. I ordered the part online and installed it myself in 10 minutes. Saved $1600. It was four screws and a plug-in. They also claimed to be competitive with local shops. After a quick market analysis, I assume they lied to give their customers the impression that this is what people are paying. I did get a second quote from the dealer: 800 for parts and 250 for labor, with diagnostics included. I requested a copy of my inspection and diagnostic report. They refused to provide the reports, and I doubted whether they had completed them. Ultimately, I believe they thought I was in a desperate situation, and they could lie and take advantage of that. I don’t want anything to do with someone so dishonest. Do you?
Hi Jeffrey, We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience with us didn’t meet your expectations. While we try to accommodate every situation, there are times when it becomes clear that a shop and a customer may not be the right fit for each other. Your vehicle was towed to us without an appointment or prior communication, but we made room in our schedule and quickly provided a diagnosis and estimate—with your approval. We understand that you had concerns about pricing and requested to supply your own parts. As a policy, we don’t install customer-supplied parts. There are several reasons for this, but first and foremost, we are required to warranty everything we install—something we take seriously to protect both our customers and our reputation. Our insurance dictates it and the courts consistently agree. We shared this with you clearly and respectfully. Over the course of two weeks, we did our best to work through your concerns, but it became clear that we couldn’t meet your expectations. At that point, we recommended you seek service elsewhere and waived all charges, even after time and labor had already been invested. We will never perform any work without authorization and we are always happy to spend the time to fully explain everything to our clients, so they can make an informed decision. We stand by our work, our team, and our policies—and wish you all the best moving forward. —The Swedish Automotive Team
